Museum Hours

The WCHS Spring Open House is held on the the third Sunday in May and is open thru  October. The Museum is open Monday thru Thursday from 1 to 4pm. The office hours are Monday thru Friday 10am - 5pm. We are closed on Holidays. If your group would like to tour the museum, please call two weeks in advance and we will be happy to accommodate you and arrange a special tour.   All WCHS Events are held from 1 - 4 pm unless otherwise posted

The WCHS observes the following holidays:  New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.

at First Federal bank in Montpelier starting at 8:30am  till sold out

**New Program for 2012**

The WCHS, Montpelier Public Library, and Montpelier Parks and Recreation are working together on a new program based on the Laura Ingalls Wilder books.  Starting in January we will be holding book clubs for adults and kids, along with different monthly activities. This will be a year long program, look for more information in your local newspapers, our websites, and Facebook.

All cooking/tasting classes held at Montpelier Library

February 7th Kids – Make Heart cookie and candy from 3:30-5pm $5

February 9th Adults- Chocolate Tasting 7-8:30pm $5

March 6th Kids – Making Cornbread and butter 3:30-5pm $5

March 13th Adults – Cinnamon and dinner rolls 6:30-8:30pm $5

April 3rd Kids –Make Brownie Sod Houses 3:30-5pm $5

April 19th Adults- Cheese Tasting 7-8:30pm $7

May 15th Kids- Planting Little House Garden @ WCHS 3:30-5pm

May 10th Adults- Gardening Class, possible tour of Shelly Company Prairie Garden $2

Book Club for Little house on the Prairie Series will be held for 8-11 year olds from 3:30 - 4:30pm at the Library on February 13 & 27, March 12 & 26, April 16 & 30, May 14 & June 4, September 10 & 24,October 8 & 22, November 5 & 19, December 3 & 17.

Sunday, May 20, Spring Open House

Featuring special displays on the Civil War, a new Community Display on purses, and Gendron Toys 1872-2007:   Maker of  Pedal Cars, Bicycles and Victorian Carriages .

TBD, Quaker Meeting House Open

History on the Quakers  who lived and worshipped in our area and are buried at Quaker Cemetery.

Saturday, July 28 Night at the Museum -The Williams County Historical Society invites you to its 4th Annual Night at the Museum on July 16th. From 7pm  to 10pm experience living history and demonstrations on what life was once like in Williams County. Hear stories from the County's earliest days to the Civil War and beyond.  The Williams County Historical Museum is located on the Fairgrounds at 611 E. Main St Montpelier. Saturday, October 20 and Saturday, October 27 Haunted Ground and Great Pumpkin Spectacular  7pm-10pm.  Featuring a haunted maze, decorated pumpkin auction, cider and donut holes for the kids, and a fun photo area to create spooktacular Halloween memories. Located on the Williams County Fairgrounds, 611 East Main Street, Montpelier.
